While taking part in the California Teachers Association State of Emergency to Save Public Education activities in Sacramento, this place was recommended by one of the Sac teachers as the best coffee in Sacramento, right across from the old bank that served as our staging area each morning for our daily briefing before our daily actions in the Capitol.
A real coffee place with a real loose tea selection, priced according to quality and rarity. The last two days I had tea, which was exquisite, but today I must have a double mocha.
The mocha was exceptional, made with the best ingredients, but not too sweet as some places tend to use very sweet syrups. The mixture of chocolate with the slight bitterness of espresso made for an excellent elixir to quash my lack of sleep built up from the excitement and anxiety of the last two days of rallies and lobbying.

Today, we walking down to the Sacramento County jail which is about three blocks from here to cheer on the 28 CTA members that were arrested for a planned act of civil disobedience. They thought that they would be processed then released, but in the end spent all night in jail. I was staying at a couple's house who are both staffers for CTA (and long time friends) with Larry Allen, the CTA Director for District A, where I teach. He was arrested, but his wife didn't find out about it until someone posted on the District A Facebook page. Sue Allen called the house, where Susan Savage took the call, and we were both astonished that Larry didn't call ahead of time.
